WHOA! A 4 day work week for most of you. Just two for me! I win! Know why? We go to DC on Thursday! THURSDAY! Can you believe it?
What a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend! Friday, I had a delish dinner at Eleven Eleven Mississippi. I had a salad with their house strawberry vinaigrette dressing, crab cakes and gooey butter cake... to go. Wes had bacon wrapped tenderloin. I always like his better. Actually, I just wanted more food. Then, it was to Jersey Boys! It was AMAZING! Go see it. Saturday, Mom and I got our nails done, and I got all my shit together for DC. That was fun! Saturday night, Wes and I saw Hangover II. It is true what "they" say. It's the same as numero uno. But just as funny and I didn't think it was totally predictable. Sunday was wedding day! I thought the ceremony started at 3. It didn't. It started at 5:30. Good thing I realized this before 2. The wedding was gorgeous! It was great seeing old friends and I even made a couple new ones!
Congrats Jeff and Rachel!
Monday, Mom, Dad and I went golfing. I beat dad. We had dinner at Red Robin (Yum!) and indulged in homemade desserts. Mom and I watched a few FNL episodes. OHHHHHH How I miss Coach Taylor! Then, of course, Dad badgered me until I turned it to the Bachelorette. Are you watching? How lame is Bentley! But I laughed when he said, "I'm going to make Ashley cry. I hope my hair looks ok." I mean, all three of us laughed. And by laughed, I mean howled. Funny always trumps mean. Sorry, Ash. But you knew he was a chump from the beginning. I'm sure the producers paid you a little extra to keep him around for a bit.
And where can I get a pair of these... promise I won't sit like that.
Happy Tuesday!

Thank you.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. -John F. Kennedy
A big, fat, I'm bored THANKS to all the men and women currently serving and all our veterans. And may God bless those we've lost and their families and friends.
There is more to this weekend than a paid day off.
Have a great one!

OH. EM. GEE!
I thought I'd blow right by all the totally serious crap that's happening in the world, and use the following for OMGW.
KIM KARDASHIAN IS ENGAGED! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
My bff is getting married!! And to all the men out there that are planning to pop the question, I got one thing to say...
20.5 carats.
You're welcome ladies.
I have two.
My first 'date' ever. Boy was 17, I was 14, but just two years apart in school.
Mom made me bring a friend. Can't blame her.
Well, boy was totally cool with it. He knew my friend.
Somehow another friend was invited. The other friend was a total jerk.
You know how there is always that friend that likes to start shit.
She's the one that goes up to a boy and says, "Jessica wants to know if you like her."
A good friend would have started with small talk, and somehow stumbled across the fact that JDub is a really neat chick, and then left the floor open for the boy to be like,
"Yeah, I totally dig her! I should probably marry her."

Anyway, I guess we were late for the movie, because we sat in the front row and only saw half of it.
Then, boy got stopped by the cops on the way home. And of course, couldn't find his ID.
I guess jerk friend really made the date bad.
Boy was super nice.
Then, I was a little older and this boy asked me to go to a pro indoor soccer game.
Boy was cute, but I didn't really know him enough to know if I liked him.

I knew we had soccer in common.
Anyway, he picked me up. His sisters were in the car.
And, I'm pretty sure I sat in the back seat with one of them.
Weird at first, but turned out to be fine, because they were awesome!
At the game, he and I sat together.
And as the game went on, I was realizing I totally wasn't into him at all!
And wished I was wherever his sisters were giggling while we check out other dudes.
After the game, I think he asked if I wanted to get food or something.
I said, "No thanks. I gotta get home."
At least I got a soccer game out of it.

Wedding Shower?
How come no one has asked me about my weekend!
Iowa was fabulous! As expected! Mom and I stayed with Mary Alice and Tom (and family). Mary Alice and Mom are BFFs and first cousins. Mary Alice's Mom, is my Grandma Toodle's sister, got it? Anyway, first of all, Mary's house is completely gorgeous! I love houses, and the architecture and stuff. I guess I appreciate it more, now. I shoulda been an architect. Dang it. Anyway, her house is awesome! So, we arrived Thursday night around 10:30, who knows what time we went to bed. Friday morning, we were able to sneak in a breakfast with my Uncle Terry (one of Mom's bros) and Aunt Romy. Then, Mom, Mary and I went shopping? No.. that can't be right.. yes, people! SHOPPING! We stopped at Banana Republic where we found some lovelies and then headed to Palmer's Deli (MARRY ME?) for lunch with the bride-to-be (my cousin, Emily). After Palmer's, Mary, Mom and I headed back out for some groceries. Stopping at Aunt Corrine's first! Aunt Corrine, is actually my Great Aunt. Again, one of my Grandma's sisters. I just want to throw this out there.. the last words my gorgeous, almost 87 year old Great Aunt said to us were, "Don't flash anyone!" Obviously, she rocks. And if she rocks, it's pretty safe to assume her offspring and kin rock.
Anyway. After all our errands were done, we went back to Mary's to continue prepping for Emily's shower. We cooked, ate, ate and cooked. We gathered all the materials for the shower games, and began to organize the buffet table and party rooms. My Aunt Debi and cousin Sophie (Emily's mom and sister, also MOH) arrived 10:30 ish Friday evening. Again, who knows what time we went to bed.
Saturday morning we continued prepping and eating and cooking for the shower. Then, we cleaned up (the kitchen and ourselves) and got ready for the guests! The shower went off without a hitch! Emily got so many wonderful things! I know more than one person tried to steal more than one gift.. Mom, Mary and I grabbed gifts as Emily's pile grew.. Emily may not even know what she's missing, if she's missing something. Just kidding, but seriously.
The rest of Saturday, post shower, was spent chatting and eating and eating a lot more. I gained 4 pounds over the weekend. I prefer to measure the success of my weekends in pounds. And 4 is right up there with 15!! #Winning.
Sunday, we were all up and on our way by 10 am. It's always sad to leave Iowa, which I guess is a good thing? Because then you at least know you want to come back! HA
The wedding is in 57 days! All I need is my dress.
Happy Thursday!

Missouri
5. Do you have a change jar? If so, what do you use it for when it gets full?

New Follower!
I have a new follower! I just noticed!! She's been following me for 4 days! WOW! Although, I'm confident she's been reading since I told her to in like 2010.
Ladies and Gents..
Katelin Jo Warmington.. you may recognize her from here, or here.
Katie is my very bestest friend. Ever since latchkey at Green Trails Elementary. She is my smartest friend. She has like 4 bachelor degrees and is a nurse. So if you get hurt, call Katie. She will save you. She has a dog named Wally. He is big and black. And he really likes me. Her parents still live 1.5 miles from my parents, but she lives in Brentwood, near the Galleria. She moved close to the mall for me. At the end of the year she plans to move to Colorado. She's been planning to move to CO since said latchkey at Green Trails Elementary. I'm lucky I've kept her here so long! I don't remember having very many classes together. Which was probably done on purpose by our schools. We did, however, go to 6th Grade Camp together.. we shoved Apple Jax up each others' noses and in each others' ears on the two hour bus ride home. I'm pretty sure everyone else was sleeping, which is probably why Mrs. Weiss was so mad at us. Then, there was this time she tried to kill me. Seriously. She forced me to go to the University of Florida soccer camp. At least we were on the same team. The same TERRIBLE team. We had to run a lot. Again, I blame Katie. But then she made up for it by forcing me to go to University of Georgia soccer camp. It is there, we met Shades, and didn't have to run as much. I will always be grateful to Katie for bringing Shades and me together. What's that? Who is Shades? I will fill you in... Shades (I do not remember her real name) was on our 'team' at UGA soccer camp. We were going through introductions, of course there were probably two Katie's and probably two Lindsay's, so when it came to Shades, she said, "My name is [insert normal name here]. But you can call me 'Shades.'" Did you wet yourself? Who does that! She wore sunglasses to play goalkeeper (which is where "Shades" comes from, in case I lost you..) Newsflash: You can't wear sunglasses on the soccer field. I dunno what crazy coach of hers let this go on for so long.
Anyway, Katie and I went to separate colleges, neither University of Florida nor University of Georgia, haha. And whenever we'd call or come home for a holiday, it's like we never missed a beat. I remember seeing her in Memphis for a spring soccer tournament. Murray State (me) was playing Southern Mississippi (Katie), we may or may not have been texting from opposite sides of the field, but it was like a movie.. we looked up, saw each other, and ran towards each other, arms wide open. Sweet, huh? We both played defense, so we rarely had to play against against each other.. which is even better. I would have knocked her down and she would have kicked me in the Achilles. Speaking of knocking people down, we have a video from high school soccer. In the very bottom right corner of the screen there are these two blondes boppin' around near some other chick, who may or may not have had the ball. Regardless, next thing you see is something like a human sandwich, and then those two said blondes hi-fiving each other and walking away from the now, very still human being on the ground. Relax, ol' girl was fine... I think.
So, here we are today. In the "Real World." Going on 21 years of best friendship. Who else can say that? My little blond bombshell, virtually a whole year older than me, and still getting carded. Your mom will tell you, "You'll really enjoy that someday!" I love my sweet warm piece of pie, even though sometimes I call her a pirate hooker. It's just another word for 'love bug.'
P.S. to any guy that thinks you're worthy. You break her heart, I will break your face. And your car windows.

My Birthday Was Saturday!
And I'm still getting presents! WOOOOO EEEEEE!!
Yesterday my bff in the whole entire universe came over. She brought gifts and came offering FroYo! She is the bomb diggity!! I'm a huge fan of The Hills, or I guess was? I dunno, because those idiots at MTV canceled the best show in the history of the world! RUDE. Anyway, she showered me with Lauren Conrad Style and a delightful little necklace! Gold chain and gold letter "J" typewriter key charm. Totes adorbs! I'm wearing it now.
Also, in no relation whatsoever to the above paragraph, I've been totally lusting after Hunter Rain Boots in green because of all this piss poor weather we've been getting. But, here's the thing.. Can't buy them BECAUSE THEY DON'T FIT OVER MY CALVES. Yeah, that's right. Few things do. Something I've become accustomed to. It's easy to live with until you want a pair of boots that don't fit. UGH. Insert frustration. So, I was looking at Jessica Quirk's blog and you'll notice how much room she has between her leg and her Hunter Rain Boots. Double Rude. Then it hit me. MAYBE THEY MAKE HUNTER RAIN BOOTS FOR MEN! Surely, they have a bigger calf opening. (The technical term is shaft, but that's disgusting.) So, I went to Nordstrom's website. BINGO! But they only come in black. Which brings me to another dilemma.
Happy Tuesday!!

My Birthday Was Yesterday!
I bet you guys and gals thought I was done with this birthday stuff. WRONG! I promise it might end soon.
The Royal Wedding Bash was a HUGE HIT! We had a blast! And look for us in Town and Style Magazine. I'm not kidding. Lynn and Steve went to a local talent agency and hired 'actors' to be those guards. Ya know. We tried to make them do something. They didn't. They're good. Inside the door was a herald! He opened the door and said, "What's your name?" (In perf English accent) Mom said, "Lady Peggy of Chesterfield, and Lord Buddy" hehehe and then the herald would announce us! (DUH) I was Princess Jessica and Wes was Duke Duffy. Go 'head. Say it. WE. ARE. AWESOME! And there was a band! When was the last time you were at a house party with a band? Exactly.

For my BIRTHDAY, Mom took me to get a mani/pedi! Then, for lunch, she made us all fried egg sandwiches! And not the healthy kind BECAUSE IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY. We had cake, opened presents and then I got ready for the evening's festivities! Wes, Monkey and I went to the Sports Attic in Brentwood (It's amazing, you gotta go!). Julie and her bf, Adam, Lauren, Ryan, Cyrus, Jamie, Lucy and Tim all joined us! We had a BA-LAST! Julie and I karaoke-ed TLC's "No Scrubs" after a failed attempt at MMMBOP. DJ didn't have it. WHO DOESN'T HAVE MMMBOP!? I also got weaseled in to karaoke-ing "Proud Mary" with a local, but I totally rocked it. And then she gave me a shout out because IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY! I love her. After Sports Attic, Monkey, Wes and I went to Talayna's (Mike's, not the pizza place) and there we found Warmington! YES! After Mikey T's, Monkey, Wes and I killed a grilled cheese NO PICKLE at Steak n' Shake. And by "killed", I mean, I could only stay awake long enough to eat half. But it was so amazing!!
Get your cake from MacArthur's or eat a crappy one. |
When I say "Monkey", I'm talkin' 'bout this hot mama! |
