Is Anyone Out There?

Does anyone still read this?  I thought so.  Do you see my 17 followers?

It's been a minute.  Some things about me (now).  I'm still bored.  I'm like 100 years old, I'm married. We live in Botanical Heights in St. Louis, MO.  Currently, my brother-in-law's dog is here.  He (the dog) is staying the night.  I hope he (still, the dog) survives.

Earlier today, I was doing my chores while wearing a weight vest.  I looked very cool.  It resembles a bulletproof vest.  I went outside and wondered what people might be thinking if they saw me.

I work for the same company, but have moved up the ladder.  We revamped our customer service model and method and department.  It's been a year and a half, we're still learning and growing as a group.

I have zero cats, so that's sad.

This afternoon we're playing 9 holes.

My husband and I are headed to Nashville in October.  It is his 15th year college reunion - it took me at least 13 minutes to try to word that correctly..  15th college year reunion?  15th college reunion?  You guys and gals are smart.  You get it.

For lunch I picked some veggies out of a pasta salad my mom made for me.  Then, I had a protein smoothie.  And finally a homemade (thanks, mom) "Big Kahuna".  It's called BALANCE.  And I'm stuffed, so we were successful.

Here's a wedding pic.

I like to call this one "Woo."

Have a good weekend.  Catch me in 2023.

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

It's been more than a year...

Ummmmmm.  This is awkward.

Happy March 2016 (!!), raise your hand if you have a Four Leaf Clover tattoo... (I don't.)

See you next year.

Seriously.

I Thought it Was Wednesday

I was trying to come up with a catchy title for Wednesday, but alas... it's next Tuesday! My bad.

It's price increase time at my day job. Which means I'm mad at the world. Seriously, I was for about a week. It's less overwhelming now because we're a week in, but I mean, just don't talk to me.

Let's talk about "working from home" - I truly believe my mother is the only one who literally works from home. I think everyone else just says it. "I'm working from home today!" means I'm sleeping in, logging in around 10, taking a 2 hour lunch at 11, and logging off at 3 - because I have to go to the grocery store. Why don't you just take the day off? I don't get it. Is it to save PTO? Don't you have to take an ethics exam? That's not very ethical.

Mom and I have been going to yoga every Monday for like 5 weeks. We're very bendy. Seriously though, I dig it. The teacher definitely makes a difference. We also take it VERY seriously. Not.

Tomorrow, we're gonna "cycle" - the new fancy schmancy term for "spin". I'm gonna meet you halfway and go with "spinsies!"

This weekend is an indoor soccer tourney, my boo LGrang is coming in town for it. We probably will end up forfeiting because the stupid boys on our team always sign us up for shit without enough girls. So we spend all of our energy searching the valleys and mountains of Missouri for girls that play soccer. I'm not exaggerating. It's also the car show. Vroom vroom, baby.

Happy whatever day it is. I gotta poop.

Toots-day

I have the best story ever, but I can't tell it. My mom would murder me, and she's the only one that reads this. But it has to do with toots - like from the butt.

Also, I promised you pics of moi from NYE, and I shall not disappoint.

Here I am. Ain't I somethin'?

And here I am really freakin' annoyed at my super wonderful boyfriend:

I like the angry look. It suits me.

Also, check out my badass mani.

Alright, well, that's it. Inquire within for the toots-day story. New New Girl and Mindy tonight.

WHO THE F SWITCHED MY SCROLL TO MOVE THE SCREEN OPPOSITE MY TRACKPAD? UGHHHHHHHHHHHH NOT. FUNNY.

PS  I feel like everyone is reading Amy Poehler's book, Yes Please, are you?

Manic Monday

I meant to post this yesterday, whoops. But here's what I had to say. So pretend, K?

This Monday really is freakin' manic. Most of us are back to work (me).

Did you see Granger's blog? Homegirl is on a roll. I can't wait till she talks about online dating... hahaha... who's done it? Spill it.

Lots of things happened this weekend...
Stuart Scott died. That was terribly sad. I don't know Stuart personally, nor do I watch SportsCenter religiously. But I can tell by the way everyone else spoke of him what an incredible man and friend and father he was. I did see his ESPYs Jimmy V Perseverance award acceptance speech. At the end he said, "When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live." and then he asked his daughter to come up on stage and give him a hug, and I'm pretty sure one of those lovely ladies in the same row told her to leave her shoes... Those are my kind of people! Seriously though, isn't that it? He nailed it. "You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live." A motto for all to live by - even if their demon isn't cancer. RIP Stuart Scott, and may God bless those affected personally by his death. And fuck you cancer.

Here's this if you haven't seen it.

I saw Wild and Unbroken. Now, I may have underestimated Wild and overestimated Unbroken, but I liked Wild A LOT, and did not like Unbroken all that much. I think you should read Unbroken.

New Year's Eve happened. Happy 2015 errbody. That was a fun night. Our little double date ended at Hiro, watching the Food Network at the bar. For like over an hour. I have a pic somewhere. My shirt had fringe, self high-five!

I finished all 9 season of HIMYM. Not at once. I just mean, I finally finished. I remember everyone being unhappy about the finale. I thought it was sweet. I mean, SPOILER ALERT, the mom dies, and I understand that all nine seasons were essentially built around this girl, but still. Ted and Robin, finally, so we can stop hearing about it. Ugh. I heard there was an alternate ending, yes? No? Anyone seen it?

Check this out. Dad, me and mom - senior pics. Break me off a piece of that!

Yoga tonight. I'm such a yogi. I got my very own mat for Christmas. It's green. Der.

Hello angels.

PEACE.

Call the Cops.

Call the Cops. There's a robbery in progress... Granger about to steal the showwwwwww.

It's a song, guyz, calm your shit (Nelly's "Steal the Show")

My bestie, LEG, is starting her own blog. Yahoo! She typos a lot when we text and email, and she knows it, and she knows I hate it! I used to delete her Facebook comments when she typo-ed. I just hate it. Sometimes I make her re-tweet (not RT, but do it over) at me when she typos in the first one. IG won't let me delete comments, so that's good for her. And stressful for me. All I'm saying is, ignore them. She means well.

We saw The Fray together, so here's a picture of the concert. I am blogging from work (shocking) and I don't have pictures here. GRANGER SEND ME (at work) A GOOD PICTURE OF US!

Merry Christmas. Mine was awesome, how was yours? Happy New Year.

Glory Day

Guys, there was this one high school basketball game I played in. I mean I played in a thousand, but this one game will always stand out. We lost 1000 - 10. Uh, basically. I think the real score was like 84-26. No chance, right?

The particular school we were playing was and will always be a great rival of mine, mostly because of my loyalty to the red, white and black. AND this specific team had 5 (FIVE!) potential D1 NCAA starters - There was one girl who ended up playing volleyball in college instead of basketball. That's the only reason for my use of "potential" - One individual on said team went on to play in the WNBA, and professionally around the world.  She is currently coaching for George Mason University.

Let me tell you, this young woman was clearly the best basketball talent I ever came across, and I played in a lot of tournaments, I went to invite only camps, and I NEVER saw anyone with even close to the same poise, talent, and discipline of this athlete.

Which brings back to this one game... I, Jessica Leigh Wilson of Chesterfield, MO, picked Dionnah Jackson's crossover SO CLEAN, it was like buttering a piece of bread, with margarine. I mean it was so easy. I was stunned. She probably remembers, too, because I bet it only happened that one time in high school... or ever.

What happened after isn't important... BUT, what a great moment, right! I'm pretty sure I autographed the stat book that night, or at least suggested I should get to... right next to 33 Jessica Wilson SG. Steals 1. Nevermind that I was high scorer that night with 8 pts - I had that one steal, that one fabulous steal.

Wishing everyone at least one fabulous moment this holiday season! Merry Christmas!

Most of 2013, And All of 2014

Let me get you caught up to today. I know I said see you next year but it's pretty dead here (at work - incriminating myself) and I'm good at switching screens when people walk by, and I have to be better than LEG at blogging, so here goes.

January 2013, I posted Runnin' - it was a survey, and an easy excuse for a post. But had nothing to do with January of 2013.

Oh crap, work emails... brb.

Jan. 2013 Celebrated the New Year at Three Sixty in STL with LEG and Meagher. It was no fun.

Feb. 2013 Somewhere between Jan. and Feb. I officially ended things with my ex-boyfriend, I also went bridesmaid dress shopping for Mary's wedding. There is a good chance it was the same day, and that's why I remember them both vividly.

Mar. 2013 McKenzie Susan is born, and Evelyn Grace is born.

April 2013 Birthday!

May & June 2013 Raging consumed most of my summer... Best. Summer. Ever.

July 2013 Met new (current) boo, and LEG moves to Chicago.

Aug. 2013 Promotion, and my BFF Katie seals the deal in Estes Park, CO.

Oct. 2013 My new (current) boo FINALLY asks me out, GEEZE.

Nov. 2013 Mary ties the knot in St. Louis, MO.

Dec. 2013 Christmas! And Carly Danielle is born.

Ha, isn't it funny the things I remember, and clearly I don't remember a lot. Well, it's not that I don't remember, I just can't pin point the date. That's fair, right? I ran two half marathons - but I dunno when. October and ?? Mom? When was it? - This just in. Mom said I ran one race in Feb. and the other in October. Thanks Mom!

Jan. 2014 I finally got an iPhone!

Feb. 2014 (I have my calendar now!) Wisdom teeth extraction. Seriously, it was like nothing. I mean, the amount of bloody-saliva-spit was disgusting, and I'm not grossed out easily. But mom just told me to close my eyes, and she changed the gauze. Dr. Mom is the best, and NOT OPEN FOR REFERRALS. SUCK ON THAT.

Mar. 2014 Taylor Katherine is born, and I graduated Beer School.

Apr. 2014 Half Marathon # 7 & birthday!!

May 2014 Bill starts his dream job!

June, July & Aug. 2014 A trip to Miami with Jill to visit Mary, a couple visits to Chicago (Hey LEG!) and lots of soccer (WORLD CUP and Tottenham)! Family vacay to Tablerock lake - this place was GORGE! And a trip to Colorado for Katie's 30th bday - you old Hag! Plus, three times to the Ozarks!

Oct. 2014 Half Marathons # 8 & # 9 (My # 9 was mom's # 2! Hahaha # 2...), celebrated one whole year with Bill.

Nov. 2014 I broke my toe. And some of my friends had a very retro 30th birthday party at the local skating rink, it was the best one yet!

That brings us to Dec. 2014 - Mom, Dad, and I saw Garth Brooks and it was FAAAAAABULOUS (Say it like the Grinch), I'm a GB fan, but this event blew me away! Mom and I ran the Hot Chocolate 15k, it was fun! The path is a lot like the RNR STL which we are very partial to. Christmas is up next! Then New Years, no plans here (yet). What are your plans?

In 2014, Ferguson also happened. Should we discuss it? It was and is still a sensitive subject. There are so many different angles to see and hear and debate over. I've never been on either end of racism. However, all colors and shapes and sizes of people can be ignorant. And I think ignorance is deliberate. I think a lack of knowledge fuels a lot of fires - whether it be media, neighbors, hearsay, etc. It's no secret racism still exists, but it's not "supposed" to, right? At least, we're led to believe that. In Remember The Titans, one of my favorite movies of all time, black and white athletes are faced with becoming a team - a cohesive, working unit. Exactly what the world is "supposed" to become, but on a much smaller scale. Right? I mean, basically. I'll leave you with an image and quote from my favorite scene:
"Attitude reflects leadership, Captain."
And a disclaimer: That's not a dig at Obama. Parents, teachers, law enforcement. coaches, librarians, random guy at the grocery store. Just people setting examples for other people.

How many times have you seen Home Alone this month? I think I watch it 3 times a week. In fact, I think I watched it twice on Saturday. So there. #Ahhhhhhh

See ya 'round.

Blog

Seriously, I've been trying to create this stupid post for minutes!

THIS JUST IN: LEG is starting a blog. She yelled at me asking how (read: she used all CAPS)(bitch).

I would add a picture, but the past 87 times I tried, I had to close out and start over.
So, FORGET IT.

Christmas is coming, so that's good.

See you next year.

Runnin

I'm just going to ignore that big elephant standing behind you, since nobody really cares (where I've been...) and answer some questions I stole from SR about running, because that's what I've been doing lately. And because we all know you really DO care.

1.  Why did you start running?
Uh, you can't not run and play soccer.
I started running to:
 1. Lose a teensy weensy bit of the ol' Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior 90.
Just kidding, but seriously.
And, 2. there were a group of 4 of us that gave it a go.

2.  Best running memory?
It was pretty ding dang cool to run a half next to my mom.  The whole way.
Hi-five, Mom!

3.  What shoes do you run in?
I haven't found a brand, style, etc that I swear by.
I usually go for Saucony or Asics.
Currently running in an Asics.  They're green.

4.  Favorite and least favorite distances to run?
Favorite is 0 mi.
I think my best mileage is 5 and 10, probably more mental than anything.
Least favorite is 5K.

5.  Do you have a running partner?
My mom.  She always lets me win.

6.  What is your favorite running accessory?
Probably my Garmin, it's a pretty sweet accessory.
But there is something to running with no time, mileage, etc on your wrist.
I also prefer to wear sweet shades, so I don't have to look anyone in the eyes.

7.  Outdoor or indoor running?
Eh.  Whatever.

8.  What is your favorite time of the day to run?
I prefer to run first thing after waking up.
Sometimes that's around 2 pm.

9.  What races have you run?
I've ran my share of local 5Ks, and a couple 5 milers.
Lewis and Clark Half Marathon (twice).
Go! St. Louis Marathon Relay, keyword: RELAY.
Soldier Half Marathon at Fort Benning (WAY COOL!)
Hero Run Half Marathon

10.  What is the hottest or coldest weather you have ever ran in?
Hottest was 80s, coldest was like 27 or something stupid like that.

11.  Other exercises you love?
Soccer, golf.
I play soccer at least 1x a week with my beloved #AbusementPark

12.  Are you currently training for something?
Si, IMS Arizona half, 3 weeks away!

13.  What are your current or future goals?
My goal for IMS AZ is to not die the last 3 miles.
I always feel like I run a pretty great 10 mi race and then DEATH sets in.
I'd also like to finish at 2:09:59.
No future goals.

14.  Advice for new runners?
You're not going to die.

15.  Why did you start a blog?
Makes me feel like someone (even if it's really a someTHING and it's the computer) is listening.

See you in a few months.

Concrete Jungle

Sup Party People!

So, New York was awesome!!  Most of you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, so you've seen those pics.

I arrived Wednesday.  After getting settled in, Katy and I took off on foot to conquer the city!  Katy lives in Manhattan, which is an island.  Boom.  She lives in "Hell's Kitchen"... obvi, I didn't complain.  We walked through Times Square, and Bryant Park.  In the winter, Bryant Park is surrounded by little shops, that surround an ice rink... while we were there, many were working to put up their shop, and the rink was being assembled.  We walked by the library, very pretty!  And popped into (and... sadly... out of) Zara.  We walked all around Grand Central Station and grabbed a bite to eat there.  It was fab! That evening, we took a cab to Chelsea Piers and caught a boat for our City Lights Cruise.  That was fun!  It was definitely half couples, half girls.  Chelsea Piers is? are? pretty neat.  There is a BIG gym... I want to say it's called CITY SPORTS, but I might be confused with something someone's t shirt said... regardless, it's an all indoor facility, with courts and fields and different floors for your preferred sport.  This is also where Suri Cruise takes gymnastics class.  Our boat left the dock at 8:30, and we returned 10:30 ish.  We sailed out into the Hudson, down the coast of Manhattan (Jersey on the other side) towards the East River and Governor's Island.  We circled the Statue of Liberty (total girl crush, I love her!), and made our way back to the dock.  This skyline is the one you usually see when seeing the New York Skyline... complete with Freedom Tower (there are 2, does that other one have a name?).  It was a little chilly, and windy!  But the boat was totally prepared with lots of blankets and booze.

Thursday, we got up and headed back to Times Square.  We walked through on our way to Central Park, and then walked through Central Park!  We walked down 5th ave to Rockefeller Plaza, that ice rink was already up and buzzing with ice dancers!! We walked by the NBC studios and was halted at 50th and 6th for the President!!  How cool is that?!  He (and his entourage) was leaving Hofstra (and the debates).  He was just sitting in the back seat, eyes forward.  Very cool!  Thursday night we hit the town.  We began at 675 in the Meat Packing District, then jumped to Gray Lady in another district (?), we tried to continue the party at a couple of other bars but it appeared most of New York City had turned in for the night.

Friday, we were up and ready to shop! We went to Tribeca to eat at Sarabeth's, then hit the streets of Soho for an afternoon of shopping!  We saved enough money for a trip on the Subway to the Brooklyn Bridge (on the Manhattan side).  We made the walk across the bridge into Brooklyn (duh, right?), it felt like a right of passage! Then, we had pizza at Grimaldi's, it was the best pizza I've ever had!  I think Brooklyn Bridge and Grimaldi's were my favorite part of the trip :)

Saturday, we were up early for The Far Hills Races in New Jersey.  This race, more commonly referred to as The Hunt, is considered a kick off to the Breeders Cup.  It's a steeplechase, which I had never seen before!  The day would better be described as a tailgate... our group had a plot with about 300 others, and at 3:30 we were instructed to be back at the bus.  It was a long day for sure! But the weather was perfect!

Sunday, we got up and headed to Times Square for some Broadway tickets.  We chose Bring It On as our poison and am so glad we saw it, it was FABULOUS!  I recommend it!  I know it's been at the Fox, so hopefully the show is traveling to a town near you, or just head to NY! Der.  We grabbed brunch at Justin Timberlake's restaurant, Southern Hospitality and had ANOTHER celeb siting!  James Marsden came in after us and sat at the bar.  He's as cute in person! I recognize him the most from 27 Dresses, but I think he's in Cheaper By The Dozen, and a bunch of TV shows (30 Rock, right now?).  Sunday night we had dinner at Katz's Deli in the lower east side.  This place was so cool! THE scene in "When Harry Met Sally" was filmed there (I'll have what she's having).

The trip was accompanied my multiple taxi rides (I'm a pro!) and two very easy flights!  I'd like to thank my hostess with the mostess and the great state of NY for having me!

Pics to come, or see them again on Twitter and Instagram.

TGIF! Have a great weekend.

HB

Apparently it's Pedro's 7th birthday!  We don't really know his exact birthdate, but he was a kitten at Halloween time in 05, and he was somewhere around six weeks around Thanksgiving...

Happy Birthday, Big Guy!

New York on Wednesday!

HERO RUN RE-CAP

Workouts this week: NOTHING! WOO!

Well, it's been 6 days since the 1st Annual Hero Run!  Did you think I died?  Well, I almost did.  Not literally, just being dramatic.  My splits are on my Garmin, so I will add those later... I had 1 negative split, I think miles 7 and 8.  Listen to me and all my technical running stuff.  It was a very successful race for a 1st Annual.  And I'm not just saying that because Mary Lou Retton Rybicki was a contributor.  All monies raised went to the Wounded Warrior Project, and I raised $700 for the 1LT Robert Wilson Collins Patriot Spirit Scholarship.  My Run For Rob teammates will be hitting the Soldier Marathon in a month.. Such a GREAT cause, and again, I'm honored to a part of this group. Anywho, back to my very credible race re-cap/review I was mildly annoyed that there were no chips, but I had my time on my watch.  It's just that sometimes often times the chip time is faster.  And that's always a great thing!  Purely selfish.  And, my watch said the path was 13.5 miles, so I was always ahead of the mile markers.  Not a huge problem, only mental. I also heard the same from a few other runners.  So, I guess my PR isn't quite official.  But it is.  So there.

My time at 13.1 was 2:13:07.  Good for an almost 2 min PR.  I was itching to beat 2:10, but could easily blame the above chip and path issues... However, I'm aware I died around mile 11, therefore missed my goal.  But that's O-freaking-K... life goes on, like in Feb. in AZ... I'm coming for you sub 2:10.  I will have some help from my Chicago-Marathon-Killing-Boston-Marathon-Qualifying friend.  If I'm REALLY nice, he'll design my training program.. I'm not even scared, he only runs 3x a week.  So, obvi, he knows what he's doing!! Anyway, on to pics!  YAY pics!

Pit stop.

Trying to stay warm!

Waiting at the start...

The top pic of this collage was my favorite part.
Nice touch Hero Run race committee!

I did a little bit of running, too.
See that pretty lady in the pink?  That's my mom.
She ran the last 5K with me and provided mental CPR.
Thanks Mom!

The hardware.

I'd like to thank my Mom (my race crew).  And others that were there cheering me on... All of the Rybickis, Amanda and Joe.  You guys rock.  I'd also like to thank those who donated and/or considered donating.  I appreciate your time and your consideration, and you!

TGIF! GO CARDS!

USA! USA! USA!

Workout:
Monday 5 mi, under 49
Tuesday, soccer.
Today, 3 mi.

9/11.. Patriot Day (belated). The older I get the more I love America.  I mean, the more sentimental I get during the national anthem, the more appreciation I feel for a soldier... I just want to wear red, white and blue every day.  I want to hi-five everyone I see, and wear an American flag fanny pack... I just love being patriotic, or witnessing patriotism.  Last year, on the 10 year anniversary, this happened. And this year, Bussie flew her flag proudly!  And it looked fantastic!

I found this quote by Hamilton Fish: "If our country is worth dying for in time of war let us resolve that it is truly worth living for in time of peace."  I hope that any and all directly affected by the attacks on 9/11 can and will find peace knowing that everyone surviving and otherwise became heroes that day.  And heroes are born, not found.

God Bless the USA!

BMWCM

Workouts I keep forgetting to write...
Ummmmm, last Sat. Sept 1: I didn't run, OOPS, BIG OOPS.
Sunday: Rest
Monday: 4.5 on the schedule, I went for 5... 2 mi, then potty break, then 3 mi
Tuesday: Indoor soccer double header... win, win.
Weds: 3 mi
Thurs: Rest
Fri: 5 mi, PR 46:23
Sat: 10 mi, I walked some.. Finished around 1 hr 40 mins
Sun: TIGER WOODS
Today: 5 mi

BMWCM = BMW Championship Monday (duh)

Over the weekend, I didn't see Kenny Loggins.  His gig was Friday night, NOT Saturday night.  And I wasn't really prepared.  Plus, there was a Cards game that appraently I HAD to watch till 2:25am, blah.

However, OSTW (Operation See Tiger Woods) was a success!!  I love him, a lot.  Phones are allowed at golf tournaments these days, but pics are prohibited.  NBC owns the rights, and if you take a pic with your phone, you can bet they will take your phone. Good thing I'm very sneaky and good looking.  I'll save you the question, "Why didn't you take any pictures of Tiger if you love him so much?"  Well, smartass, Tiger's security is ridic.  Seriously, nobody else on that golf course had as many secret service guys inside the ropes with them.  Not even the two groups behind Tiger.  There were at least 4 under cover brothers, dressed in civilian clothes... and when Tiger would hit, his men would watch the spectators.  If you even had your phone in your hands, they would say, "MA'AM, PLEASE PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY."  Plus, there is nothing like Tiger in real life.

Entrance

#18... Ernie Els on left.

Phil (Blah) and Vijay in 8 fairway.

The hardware!

Roar!
I think you can tell which cheek is ailing...
My ears were a HUGE hit! I even got a head nod from Stevie Williams (Tiger's estranged caddy), I bonded with a lady when she asked if I was a Tiger fan... I said no, and we giggled!  One guy gave me the ol, "Good for you!" and another guy thought they were so great, he borrowed them for a pic to send to his son.  But the best... One of Tiger's security peeps.  We chatted on 8 and again on 18.  He was supposed to give Tiger my number.  Still waiting for that phone call... Mom and I even scored free BMW Champ golf balls.  It was a perfect Sunday for championship golf, the weather was gorgeous!

Happy Monday!

TGIFCSS

Thank God it's Friday, Canker sores suck.

Remember this post?

It's happening again. Someone get me an IV with liquid vitamin B, stat.

And I found this pic...

It's a mix between The Lion King and Tiger Woods. Obvi, a winner.

Have a faboo weekend! I'll be seeing Kenny Loggins, and Tiger Woods.. in that order.  This would be a really good weekend to start following me on Twitter (@Jwil18).
