Better OMGW

THIS JUST IN! And totally trumps my previous OMGW (OH EM GEE WEDNESDAY) post..
Nice timing, asshole.

First LT Timothy C. Konze has been recommended for active-duty promotion to captain.
To what?
To CAPTAIN!!!!!!!!

Here's the article: http://www.armytimes.com/news/2011/03/army_capt_promo_032911w/

And here's what he had to say about it..

DISCLAIMER: I don't know any technical Army terms.
Do not be offended by my super creative synonyms.

Me: What does that number by your name mean?
Cap'n: I don't know for sure. They have to review my file so maybe I was the 3913 or whatever number, file.

Me: Do you get to add another little doo-dad to your Army outfit?
Cap'n: I change the rank on my chest.
Me: What does that mean?
Cap'n: Google rank insignia.

So I did..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_(land)

Me: Do people have to treat you different/better?
Cap'n: More respect comes from the enlisted ranks. I can be a punk and treat lieutenants like shit, but that's not my style. I'll be a mentor to more junior officers.
Me: But will you make someone eat poo?
Cap'n: Only if it's white. Like Mr. Gardocki.
Me: Who is that?
Cap'n: Step Brothers.

Me: Who is a better Captain? You or Wild Bill Wichrowski?
Cap'n: Before I googled Wild Bill, my answer was, "Who the f*** is Wild Bill Wichrowski." After I googled him, Wild Bill, fo sho. His job sucks more than mine. I think.
Me: I dunno. I was Captain of a ship once.

Me: Tell me something else about the Army. Something I don't know and don't have to google.
Cap'n: Where do I begin?
Me: I don't know. You're the Captain. Captain.
Cap'n: There are over 42 branches and functional areas. If I stayed in the Army, I could do fun stuff like marketing. Most people think of the army and think of guns and tanks and helicopters. They don't realize how many options there are.
Me: Wowza! Does everyone get the same insurance benefits?
Cap'n: Yes and they f***in' rock your face. People in the Army talk shit but I think it's because they just like to complain. EVERYTHING is taken care of. EVERYTHING.
Me: Yahtzee!

Me: And what do your current duties consist of.. Ya know.. for ALL my readers.
Cap'n: Planning, resourcing and executing training for 220 initial entry soldiers from day 1 to graduation. Two weeks off then start it all over again. Oh and watching SBTB after PT with my BFF.

He's referring to me, people. Hi-Five!

Ok. Spotlight back to me.
The first time I wrote about my beloved BFF, I failed to mention he was my BFF. Tim and I met in 6th grade. And he was in love with me until 12th grade...

Ok, I'm gonna need a 30 second TO (we take those, when we're about to get serious..) to say a few nice things about my BFF.. in the form of a poem, of course.

Roses are Red,
Violets are Blue,
I am so completely,
proud of you.

Oranges are orange,
And nothing rhymes with orange,
You're a freakin' Captain in the United States Army,
I'm not scared, because I know you'll protect me from any harm-y.

I adore you,
But I cannot do a back flip,
Come back to St. Lou,
I miss your bestfriendship.

[INSERT SOUND OF HORN AT BASKETBALL GAME HERE]

Poo, time's up.

If you were eating dinner with the Wilson's tonight. This would be your plate.

When I told Peg and Bud about your great achievement. Bud said, "As a retired Lieutenant, I have to salute him!" Boo-ya!

Happy Wednesday, Captain Timmy.

OMGW

TOMORROW IS OPENING DAY! I honestly can't believe baseball is starting again. Time really does freakin' fly! Here's my ish with baseball.. it's boring. GASP! And I don't really get it. I mean, I get the game. But how can we win 12-0 on Thursday, and lose to the same team 12-0 on Friday? I know what you're going to say.. Pitchers and hitting. NEWSFLASH: Isn't that the game plan every game? I'm a baseball fan, because I'm a St. Louis Cardinal fan, because I'm born and raised STL and Nelly is my homeboy. Also, it is true. STL has the biggest and best fans. Hands down. There is no other place on Earth that can compare to a filled Busch Stadium on a steamy summer evening, Cards versus Cubs, bottom of the 9th, Cards down 1, with 1 out. Hello, America's favorite past time, tonight you are mine. There is so much tradition in baseball, and that's what keeps me comin' back. That, and the jumbo dogs, ice cold beer, Coach McKay's rump and this view..

And here's s'more about me. I'm excited!

1. If you won a trip to Disneyland/world, who would you take with you?

Do I have to choose just one?

2. When was the last time you listened to a CD?

I've got one in my CD player right meow. My boyfriend made a mixed tape CD for me. It rocks.

3. What spice/seasoning is your favorite?

What? Um.. Lawry's.

4. If you were in a band, what kind of music would you play?

Country. I think it's the easiest to write and sing.
All I gotta do is tell you a sad story, and I have a voice like Josh Turner.
Is that weird?
And I could, unjustifiably, wear my red cowboy boots all the time!

5. If you could have personally witnessed one historical event, which one would it be?

Toughy. Here's four that come to mind. Screw your "which one would it be?"
Tiggity Tiger's first Masters win in 1997.
Or JFK's assassination, is that weird?
Or MLK Jr.'s I have a Dream Speech.
Or an Elvis concert. (Hi-five Mom and Dad, because they've been there. Done that!)
6. If you could go back to school, what would you study?

Well, if I went back this instant, I would probably get my MBA. LAME.
But, if I could go back for funsies, I would go for Kinesiology or some type of design or Home Ec.
Or maybe Culinary School!!
7. If you could go to one sporting event, all expenses paid, which one would you see?

Easy. The World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
Who's offering??

8. Do you drive an automatic or a manual?

My car is automatic.

9. Are you comfortable speaking in front of people?

Depends on the peeps.

10. Have you ever experienced an earthquake?

YES!!! I was terrified!
I was sleeping, I thought my cat was scratching her ear and shaking the whole darn bed.
I tried to reach for her with my foot, but she wasn't there!
Then, I thought it was a robber!
I hid under the covers. Borderline suffocating myself.
When I woke back up, the news was on.
Once I heard "earthquake," I giggled.
My mom said she came to check on me, but I was sound asleep under my covers.
WRONG-O, MOMMY!
I was having heat stroke under my covers and crying from horror!
WHY DIDN'T YOU COME GET ME!
Now I have a baseball bat. And if you rob me, I will not hide. I will hit.

Happy Hump Day! Go Cards!
I'm charging my camera tonight, and crossing my fingers for a good shot of Coach McKay's backside!

Answer the same questions in the comments! If you want.. won't really be mad if you don't.
But you should.

Spring it on!

It has already been sproughten.

Didn't work as well, did it?

And it's still snowing in the Midwest! Saturday we got about 6 inches. Not kidding! It was heavy snow. Perfect for packing snowballs and heaving them at passing cars!! Driving through neighborhoods was seriously amazing! It was gorgeous! Mom and I wore flats with no socks. Even though Dad said, "We're supposed to get 1 to 3 inches." And then when we got home, we said to Dad, "Why didn't you tell us it was going to snow!" Hahaha Poor, poor Bud.

Anyway, most of it is gone.. But I think snow is in the forecast for tomorrow. Let's check.

http://www.weather.com/weather/5-day/63017:4:US

Yeppers! Totes gonna snow again! But check out the weather for Thursday. Perfect for jeans, red cowboy boots, and my red St. Louis Cardinals coat!! That's right. It's opening day! Go Cards!

Greek Independence Day was so fun! I recommend being Greek, if you aren't already.
I rode a donkey. And the Ouzo was terrible!

Happy Monday!

Happy Greek Independence Day!

Even though the Greek Revolution took place between 1821 and 1830, we celebrate Greece's independence from the Ottoman Empire on March 25.

Listen to me, talking like I'm Greek and like I celebrate every year! (And like I know what's up.. Wikipedia makes me sound way smarter than I am, even though I'm pretty ding dang smart.)

Tonight, I'm headed to Majestic, in the Central West End, to celebrate the freedom of my people. Hehehaha I'm totally looking forward to it! Blue Pints, Beer Pong Tournament, Gyros (Except I can't eat those, because I'm Catholic and it's Lent.. better than being Ottoman Empirish and getting beat up), and Ouzo.. which I just looked up.. it'll get you drunk, 'nuff said.

Below is what served as the "rallying cry" for the Greeks against the Ottoman empire. I hope we sing I learn we sing this baby tonight!

Of course this has been translated into English, my native tongue.

For how long, o brave young men, shall we live in fastnesses,
Alone, like lions, on the ridges in the mountains?
Shall we dwell in caves, looking out on branches,
Fleeing from the world on account of bitter serfdom?
Abandoning brothers, sisters, parents, homeland
Friends, children, and all of our kin?
[...]
Better one hour of free life,
Than forty years of slavery and prison.[19]

You can bet I'm totally wearing blue and white tonight.

I'm gonna go all 4th of July on this 25th day of March, 2011. And remember, as my friend William Wallace said, "It's all for nothing if you don't have freedom."

Have a great weekend! Happy Independence Day, Greeks!

Another Survey.

It's OMGW. I don't really have anything OMG worthy. Do you?

Leigh over at My Leigh Ashley answers questions about herself every Wednesday. She calls it "Wee Bit Wednesday" Super cute. She tells other bloggers to "link up." While I'm certain I know what she wants me to do, and that I could probably do it.. I don't really want to. Call me "lazy." Actually don't. I don't like to be called "lazy." Even though I can be. Just call me "don't feel like it."

1. What was your first job?

Performance Assistant at Sports Enhancement Group.
(The first job I actually had to fill out paperwork for)
I had a pretty sweet nanny/chauffeur gig before that. But "Boss" just gave me cash.
Just kidding, IRS.

2. Have you ever seen a stand up comedian?

Yes!! Chelsea Handler, Greg Hahn, some others that I've never heard of..
and obviously can't remember..

3. When was the last time you played mini golf?

Mini golf? PUH-LEASE. That's so juvenile.
On the reals tho, it has probably been a year.

4. What was the last picture you took?

I took some photos last night of my new jewelry organization-ers.
I'll show you soon.

5. Burnt food: yes or no?

What? Seriously?

6. If you have a pocket full of change, what do you do with it?

I don't keep change in my pocket. I'm not a boy.
Unless in the form of dolla dolla bills, y'all.

7. Can you touch your tongue to your nose?

I absolutely can!

8. Do you scrapbook?

Do I? No.
Have I? Yes.
Here's what usually happens..
I get my super awesome pics, and come up with super awesome and creative ideas.
I get pages 1, 2 and 3 done, and they're totally amazing!
Then I get tired, but I don't want to leave my scrapbook unfinished.
(Apparently that's my problemo)
So the rest of the pages are like a picture on a blank page. Totally Ug.

9. Do you buy lottery tickets?

YES! And I've won!

10. Do you prefer to be in front of the camera or behind it?

Depends.
Can I stand to the side? Tilt my chin forward?
Cross one foot in front of the other? And put my hand on my hip?
Then, I prefer to be in front.
I hate seeing those pics on Facebook.
No matter where or how or what the overall pose is..
Every gd girl has got her gd hand on her gd hip!
The only time it's cool, is when you're actually standing, let's say in a line with your best gfs.
The girls on the ends probably have their hands on their hips. No gds necessary.
That's like completely normal.
But generally, you're trying so hard to put your hand on your hip, that instead,
you just look completely ridiculous. Nobody notices your arm.
We notice your contorted figure. Ew.

Today is National Chip and Dip Day and National Organize Your Home Office Day.
I will be participating in one of these. Guess which!

Happy Wednesday!

Winning!!

I totally won this weekend. In yo face, Charlie Sheen!

Saturday, Bud (a.k.a, Dad) and I played in a 2-person scramble at The Golf Club of Florissant. Course ain't too bad. Reminds me of ol' Frances E. Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, KY! (GOOOOOOOO RACERS!!) Yours truly got to play from the ladies' tees, which is always a treat! If you like 50 yard approach shots.. and 100 yard par 3s. Dad and I shot a cool, lil 5 under par, good for a 67 and, THE WIN! We won by 2 strokes. Guess who we beat? Yep. Wes and Waldie (bf and bf's roommate, both amaze golfers!). As if I couldn't win anything else... there was a longest drive contest. Split into men, women, and seniors. I won all three divisions. Just kidding, I only won for the women (because I am not a man, nor a senior). I probably had a 25 yard advantage playing from the forward tees, but I definitely blew away the competition (and the men and seniors) by an easy 100 yards, I hit a pretty freakin' great shot. Sometimes, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Sorry 'bout your egos. NOT. That's for you, old guy who called me a Gorilla.. twice.

Proof.

Saturday night, I celebrated. With BFF's and Apples to Apples, and a little basketball. How's your bracket?

Sunday, woke up, had an outdoor soccer game. Guess what happened. We won! Then, I spent the rest of the day outside. I think it got up to 80 at one point, it was awesome! I even busted out the SPF! Gotta keep this precious, porcelain skin nice and protected! Wes and I played at Stonewolf, in Fairview Heights, IL. (What up East Side!) It was a long afternoon on the course. The first 9 took 3 hours, the next 6 took an easy hour and 20 minutes, that's what I'm talkin' about. The last two took ONE HOUR. I am not kidding you. I would have made Wes quit, if I wasn't about to blow away the back side with a 38. But, if I got to do it all over again, I'd totally quit. On our way home, we stopped for some sodies and some scratchers tix. Guess what. We won!! 40 bucks.

I'm probably gonna win powerball or Mega Millions. I'm calling it.

Happy Monday! And Happy freakin' Spring!

I'm March Mad.

Ok. So, I have mixed feelings on broadcasting my March Madness picks and opinions. On one hand, I'm reading everyone's March Madness Facebook statuses and I'm annoyed.. even though, I'm a college basketball fan, and I participate in March Madness every year.. I just feel like people are updating their statuses like they are the only ones participating or winning or losing.. NEWS FLASH!! Majority is watching, listening, reading, or there! And when someone's status says, "Go Louisville! Show Morehead State what Division 1 basketball is all about." I want to punch them. I get they're from Louisville, that's just super. However, as a student-athlete graduate from Murray State, aren't you kind of dissing yourself? I mean, Murray and Morehead are from the same conference. So, basically you're calling your Division 1 college career, what? No good? Worse than one you might have had at Louisville? Then why didn't you go to Louisville? Keep that answer to yourselves.. I'm not here to hurt anyone's feelings.. deliberately. I know, I'm confused, too. And even if you aren't dissing yourself, you're totally joshin' on Murray State and I'm taking it personal. Then, what happens? Morehead State wins! Here come the excuses!! My favorite.. bad refs, right? The first people everyone blames. It couldn't be that Louisville just lost.. that doesn't make any sense! Go Eagles. Go OVC! And you, with the status, if you're reading this.. UNFRIEND! Yeah, that's right.

Speaking of refs, I hate when, again, someone is rooting for a team.. let's say Illinois.. and there is a game changing call late in the game.. and Illinois is on the losing end of said call, comments are made dubbing the call a "bad" call, right? However, the fans on the winning end of that call, let's say for Mizzou, are obviously ok with the call. This is a generalization. Because that's generally what happens, right? However, if Illinois was on the winning end of that same call, what does the Illinois fan say now? Bingo! GREAT CALL. True basketball fans know what's up. A bad call is a bad call.. regardless of team, tradition, and loyalty.

Who am I rooting for? I'm glad you asked. UNC, baby! Every year! Every sport, any seed. My only ties are to Murray State.. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO doesn't make me a Mizzou fan.. puh-lease. In fact, did you see who Mizzou got first round?? Cincinnati! Mick Cronin's (former MSU coach!) bunch. Guess who I picked to win. Cincinnati. Guess who won. Cincinnati. Guess why. Mick Cronin.

TGIF! Have a great weekend!

Life's Too Short Not To Be Irish!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

I love St. Patrick's Day! I'm Irish, and my favorite color is green! I don't consider myself 'lucky' but I have won the lotto... and if you're not wearing green, I'm going to punch you! And no, that's not a typo for "pinch."

In high school, the girl's varsity basketball team formed a group (within our team? But it was everyone on the team. I don't know how to explain it any better.).. the Irish Mafia. I totally remember how it started, but I'm not posting that on the www. So, inquire within. We added an "O" to every one's last name. For example, I was Jessica O'Wilson, Michelle was Michelle O'Gross.. get it? Totally HILAR. We made t-shirts, secret handshakes, and used an Irish accent. It was hard to play and keep up with the accents, so we dropped them before game time. Plus, we didn't want to blow our cover. I gave them all a shout out on Facebook, duh. Except Facebook only let's me tag like 4 people in my status/shout out. So, that was totally lame. Where is Mark Z? I have a formal complaint!

Here we are!
Tonight after our traditional ruebens, I'm going out for a green beer. To Syberg's in the Valley (in case you want to join me!)

An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Happy Thursday!

Chin Up! Chin Up! Everybody Loves a Happy Face!

Screw everybody! Not really, but is anyone sad today? I'm not.. but I'm just asking if anyone else is.. because Lauren over at Busy Bee Lauren is.. poor little lamb.

Don't make me recite "Chin Up" from Charlotte's Web! You know when you're bummed, or just sad, or aren't cheesing as you walk down the hallway, and someone says, "Smile!" sometimes i just want to be like, "NO!" or "YOU SMILE!" But I can't, because I'm at work. Or in a public place, or somewhere where I have to be lady-like. There's nothing wrong with being sad or mad. Emotions are ok things. Sometimes people take them too far (cough::Charlie Sheen::cough), but with a support system and the right kind of 'help', you'll survive. Plus, life is too short, right?

Anyway, found this quote. Wanted to share..

Chin up, chin up
Everybody loves a happy face.
Wear it, Share it
It'll brighten up the darkest place..

Just kidding, here's the 'real' quote.. it's long, I usually hate long quotes.. actually I still do, except this one.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

- Mary Ann Williamson

Shine your lights, people!!!

Happy Monday! (Again!)

SNOW!

We. Have. Snow! Like 4 inches! And it's still snowing! OMG! Don't worry, it will be 75 degrees on Thursday (St. Pat's!).. A standard week in weather for the midwest. I feel like this is our worst snow, yet! I mean we got those 8 inches a couple months ago, and there were a couple inches of ice underneath, but everyone stayed home. I think the weather people meteorologists knew snow was coming, but they downplayed it, almost poo-poo-ed it, in fact! WELL, I don't think this is anything to poo-poo. (I just wanted to say poo-poo, again)

NORDYNE parking lot..
Anyway, it's Lent. I'm writing a letter to my sweet (Great) Aunt Corrine every week. This week is week 1, even tho last week probably should have been. That's ok, though. I will repent. And be forgiven. Because that's how God rolls.

Easter is coming, which means Reese's Eggs are in stores (NOW!). The only way to eat a Reese's Cup is in an egg shape!! They're so delicious that way!

What else.. I have a new follower! That's right, I'm being stalked. Just kidding, a new follower of/on? my blog!! DUH! First Lt. Timothy Crane Konze. Don't mess with me, he knows how to use grenades, and guns, and bigger guns! Was that inappropriate? And he's a SBTB fanatic! He's in Georgia now. At Fort Benning. And we watch SBTB "together" in the mornings.. precious, right? Actually, that's only happened twice, Friday and today. But it will continue, go to Vegas and bet on it.

And, GET THIS. Timmy knows Babe Ruth, too. On the reals. That's how we met.. through Babe Ruth. Pay attention: Tim used to mow the lawn for his elderly neighbor lady. His elderly neighbor lady went to school with Babe Ruth's daughter, Babe Ruth used to walk the girls home from school. Yahtzee!

Happy Monday!

HICCUPS.

Ok, so when I get the hiccups, they're totally violent and inappropriate. One out of every 15 hiccups is accompanied by a belch. I used to get them anywhere I needed to be quiet.. i.e. Church. I would hiccup with my mouth closed and my mom would look at me and say, "Keep your mouth closed!" Newsflash Mommy: MY MOUTH WAS CLOSED!! Now, I just seem to get them.

Also with my hiccups, when it rains.. it pours. If I get them in the morning.. get ready sister, you're gonna get them again! I never just get one set of hiccups.. at least twice a day, sometimes thrice.

And by the third time, my rib cage is tired, my throat hurts and my stomach is mad. Good thing for water.

I've done all the tricks.. tablespoon of sugar, drinking upside down, holding my breath.. all work some times. But seems like water always does the trick! I just drink (actually more like chug, and usually using a straw) some water, and in a few minutes, my hiccups are gonezo!!

Here's what the Mayo Clinic says about hiccups.

Can you imagine being that 1 in 100,000 with hiccups for months! OMG, I think that happened.. Check this out. My hiccups aren't near as piercing as a scream, but they are border line insane. Mom can testify. And, I don't think I've ever heard anyone hiccup, ever.. wait.. not true.. someone does when they're boozin'.. I've never heard anyone hiccup before 9pm on a Saturday.. except for myself.

That's for reals what I look like after 6 minutes of hiccupping.
 Happy Thursday!

OMGW!

OH. EM. GEE! Have you seen the movie, "Up"? If not.. watch it. If you haven't, this may or may not impress you. Well, it should impress you regardless, but still..

Ok, did you see this on the news?

National Geographic is the shiznit.

Here are a couple of images.

According to the above article, the house reached 10,000 feet and was in the air for about an hour. Looks like it will be part of a new TV show, beginning this fall. I didn't research much more (And I don't have sound here, in case they tell you what happened in the video).. like where it landed, but perhaps they're holding that information hostage for the show.

This little balloon plus house experiment was good for a new World Record.. largest balloon cluster flight ever. Yahoo!

FAT TUESDAY

HAPPY FAT TUESDAY! Today is my 3rd favorite day of the year (Christmas, Valentine's Day). Mostly, because I get to do one of my favorite things.. EAT!! And not feel bad or that I have to go workout or get lipo. But this year, I'm on the 17 Day Diet (poor planning on my part..) so I cannot partake in this WONDERFUL DAY! Well, I can.. but I cannot give 100%. Momma said it was ok to cheat a little with fat free fig newtons and a twix bar! A WHAT!? A TWIX BAR! I am so excited! Plus, I've gotta soccer game tonight.. I'll be sure to do more running than I usually do.. which should be no problem, mon.

For my fellow Catholics, no meat tomorrow or Friday until Erster.. until what?? Until Erster. Ya know, like Ursher.

What are you giving up for Lent? I'm giving up chocolate.. just kidding.. I'm on the 17 Day Diet, I can't eat that anyway.

Borderline terrifying..
Happy FAT Tuesday!

Welcome to the World GRANT JEFFREY WILSON!

Yeppers! That's right! The Wilson clan just got a wittle bigger!!

My cousin, Jeffrey and his wife (my insta-cousin), Katie had a beautiful little boy. Born March 1, at 4:45pm, weighing in at 8 lbs. and 9 oz. And reaching for the stars at 20 3/4".

I'm gonna type it like I would announce him on a basketball court..

GRANT.... JEFFREY.... WILSONNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

Technically speaking, Cyclone Baby is my 2nd cousin. That sounds like zero fun.. So he can be my nephew!

Congrats Jeffy and Katie! I love you!

Survey says.. Again..

Look what I found! (Thank you, Leigh Ashley)

More questions about me, me, me!

1.  Do you always wear your seat belt in the car?
