I know Babe Ruth. On the Reals.

You wanna know something awesome?? Knew it.

Grandpa W was in the FBI. Are you nervous?

Dad shared some sweet info about Grandpa W at lunch today. I like to pick Dad's brain about Gramps. My Dad's dad passed when my Dad was five years old. So most of what Dad tells me, isn't what Dad remembers. It's what Grandma W told him, which is totally cool. Because it's like stories being passed down, right? Right!

So today, Dad tells me something about Iran. About how there is an upper class and a lower class. I said, "Dad, what would you be?" he said, "Lower class.. hehehahha" we giggled. Then he said, "Considering my Dad was a lawyer, my Grandfather was a business owner and both had college degrees, I would most likely be upper class." Cha-ching! We hi-fived. So, then I started playing 20 QUESTIONS with Dad.. tehe.. So, Grandpa W went to the University of Iowa, got his JD. Because he's awesome. Then, served in the FBI, I guess I missed the details how that happened.. Anyway, Grandma W and Grandpa W moved to New York (Concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can't do.. I love Jay-Z..). Dad says he remembers Grandma telling him, "there were bugs in the apartment and I cried." I would too, Gramgram! So, Grampy W served most or all of his FBI time in New York.. My Uncle and Dad were both born in NY (baby brother was born in Iowa), which I find to be totally cool! Grandpapola was involved in the capture of Judith Coplon (to which my Father said, "Google her." So, I did). She was a Russian Spy! A what? A RUSSIAN SPY! How cool am I? MY Grandpa was involved in the capture of a Russian Spy. You're welcome, America. My dad said, "He (Grandpa W) was standing outside his car, with a flat tire, when Judy drove by.." Why hasn't anyone made a movie out of this??

My dad also told me.. after being transferred to Iowa, my Grandpa was always trying to catch Babe Bisignano. A restaurant dean and a Des Moines legend! Dad said money was always being stolen? via business owners. So, like I would sell 3 pizzas for $20 total. And then my gang would go out and take care of some biznazz and bring back $4,000,000.. and then I could just cover that $4,000,000 in my sales. So as far as you know, I made $4,000,020 in restaurant sales. Tricky tricksters.

So, back in Iowa.. Grampy had Leukemia, and was on a flight with Gramgram to Rochester, MN. They were headed to the Mayo Clinic. Grandpa suffered a brain hemorrhage in flight, the plane was reverted back to Des Moines, IA. Grampy didn't make it.

But you know what does make it? Grampy's legacy.

But wait! That's not all! We have letters signed by J. Edgar Hoover, First Director and Director of the FBI for a very long time. AND, some lady.. Ruth. Baby Ruth.. (All: BABE RUTH!) (Sandlot, anyone?) That's right, The Great Bambino a.k.a The Sultan of Swat walked by my Dad as a tot in his baby carriage! Which basically means, I know.. well, knew Babe Ruth.

I don't have any pics of Grandpa (here), but here is the Albany FBI branch!

Have a good weekend. Stay outta trouble.

Knock. Knock.

So I missed OMG Wednesday. I'm glad I stick with my ideas. It's probably like the great disappointment of all geniuses in the world. They have all these fantabulous ideas (OMGW) and then never follow through. HOWEVER, I did an OMG post last Friday, which was supposed to be for this Wednesday, which was actually yesterday. Ya with me? Anyway, here's one for you. OMG I'm going to Iowa this weekend! I chattered about it on Monday, and guess what's in the forecast.. SNOW! I LOVE SNOW! I miss it! I'm sort of ready for Spring, though, mostly because I'm seeing stripes EVERYWHERE, and I love it! You know what else I'm seeing?? A mall in my future.. and I'd love to find the perfect striped t! Long sleeved or shirt sleeved, I prefer cotton to silk, but as long as it's perfect!

Hello, Gorgeous. See you soon.
As my friend Jim Croce said, "You don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off the old Lone Range, and you don't mess around with Jim." Be careful this weekend, kiddos.

Happy Thursday!

Monday. Schmonday.

The only good thing about Monday is it goes by fast.

Weekend was great. And I'm going to Iowa this weekend! Don't roll your eyes. People always roll their eyes about Iowa. First of all, I love Iowa. I don't understand why it's such a far drive, for such a close state.. but that is ok, I guess. Growing up, 95% of my family lived there.. now, probably about 50%. But anyway, I love Iowa.

Daytona 500 was over the weekend, did anybody watch? Didn't think so. Landon Donovan was crabbing about something Daytona 500 related up and down Twitter.. I still have no idea what he was talking about. Something about drivers and their sponsors? Umm, what? If you have sponsors, isn't the whole point for them to advertise via you? As in, you wear their name on your jersey, or car, or blog. And shouldn't you give them a shout out every now and then? Whatever Landon Donovan.

Here he is. Trevor Bayne, 20 years old.
Saturday night, Wes and I ate at Eleven Eleven Mississippi. See my review here. It was awesome. Then, we went to the SLU men's basketball game. They beat Charlotte.. yahoo! After the game we went to Pin Up Bowl in the loop.. our lane was available after a two hour wait and about 5 minutes after we left. Of course.

 Happy Monday!

Ok, have a good weekend!

I'm soooooooo bored..

Happy Friday!!

I'm so ready to get home and take off my scratchy cardi!! I also have a hankerin' for new nail polishes!

What are you guys and gals doing this weekend?

Bahahah, look at this freakin' cat. I wish my cat would do this, just for my pure entertainment!
Have a great weekend!!

There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)

I asked Mary to give me a topic to blog about.. and she said..

Hmmm…the weather change and seasons changing! Lame but easy… just like the kind of girls Tommy likes..

Oh Mary, you are silly. Tommy is Mary's brother. We love him. As we do all of the Rybicki clan. Is it weird that I use full names on the www? Here, let me just give you their addresses and phone numbers.. NOT.

Anyhooters, so ya wanna hear about weather, do ya!? First of all, I find it extremely intriguing that after it being single digits for a week, it warmed up to low 30s, the sun came out, and I was all like, "WHOA. Where are my shorts!" I suppose that's the whole point of getting acclimated.. whatever, it's still weird. So, Sunday it got up to 67.. I feel like I already said that somewhere? Perhaps, I was actually talking to someone.. Today, it's 100, not.. Today it's actually low 70s, according to http://www.weather.com/ it's 73, what! I know! And windy.. don't forget windy. BUT, in true midwest weather fashion, that will all change by next week. Hello 38 on Tuesday. It's cool, I'm sure we'll get plenty of 110 degree days, plus an extra 400 degrees from humidity.. come June, July, and August.

I hope if you're getting fabulosa weather this week, you're not stuck inside!

Happy Thursday!

Oh. Em. Gee.

Did I already give a post this title? Who cares.

So I think Wednesdays should be OMG Wednesdays. Just like Guest Blog Thursday, except for a couple of Tuesdays and a couple of Fridays.. While most OMGWs will be probably making fun of others, there will be the occasional awesome OMGs or excited OMGs, like good things that happen to me, or my homies.

Ok, so today, on this first OMGW EVER.. Look at this picture of Destiny Hope Smiley Miley Hannah Montana Cyrus, whatever her name is..
via Outfit Identifier
What in the world is wrong with her face? And that orange fluffy thing looks like my cat's tail (I know it's not, because he's gray). I wonder what tribe she descends from.. and if that tribe uses iPhones?

And look at Kimmy..
via Bloglovin

I totally dig Kourt's outfit.. very 70s and 70s is NOW. But Kim? HONESTLY.. her pants are freakin' DIRTY!!!!

Happy Wednesday, Party People. Don't dress like Miley or Kim this weekend.

Just Go With It

Ello Govna!

We saw "Just Go With It" Saturday morning. Movie was long. But pretty cute.. had all the right dimensions.. funny, weird, quirky, happy, sad, dramatic.. whatever else is a "right dimension." It was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than "How Do You Know." Just sayin.

Last night was the best Valentine's date ever. My little dumpling surprised me by picking me up AT WORK. Ready? AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. He had flowers and cards.. I had nothing.. whoopsiesss. We went to Fro Yo. They were out of bananas. PISS! Then he brought me back to my car and that was that. Next year: Same time. Same Place.

Anyway, I missed last night's THE BACHELOR, but mom told me (with my permission) that Michelle got booted! GOOD! She's so WEIRD. And she looks like Olivia Palermo. And I want to look like Olivia Palermo, I don't want Michelle to look like Olivia Palermo.

Olivia
Michelle from The Bachelor

Sorry, I can't figure out how to put them side by side.

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, lovebugs!

If you're single and wearing black today, or dubbing this "Singles Awareness day," GROW UP! GET OVER YOURSELF! Valentine's Day is about being loved, and loving others. Not being in love. Wah.

Valentine's Day is my favorite "less major" (Christmas!) holiday, my parents have always made it special for me! No boyfriend necessary, people! All through college, Dad sent flowers "from your Secret Admirer" and mom always made/makes everything pink and red and purple! I love it! I always got/get great gifts from my parents! I'm not just talking candy people.. necklaces, sweaters, shoes! One year I got a new pair of soccer shoes.. SILVER soccer shoes.. I can wear silver cleats, because I am that good! Right up there with Ronaldo (the 5 years ago Ronaldo) Pele. Did you see what I did there? I skipped all the greatest female soccer players and went straight for the best. I'm not scurred.

Anyway, Valentine's Day. Who wants to be mine? Wes and I are meeting at FroYo after work for a little dessert.. we both have to work till midnight, so there's no time! There's never any time! There's no time to study.. Bahhh I love Saved By The Bell!!!!!!!!!!! Then we'll be celebrating for reals this Saturday with a fancy schmancy dinner and SLU basketball.

I spent the weekend kicking Cancers' ass. 'Scuse my french. Friday night, we attended a Pancreatic Cancer benefit, raising over $11,000 for PanCan research. And Saturday night, made lap blankets for the patients at the Carbondale, IL Breast Center and raised $600 for Breast Cancer. Take that, Cancer.

Niece Jada in her Valentine's duds. 3 mos and 4 days old!

My balloon from Mom :)

I love you. I don't love your poor display of finalroundgolf in Dubai.

Do you have any Valentine's Day plans?? Put 'em in the comments.. and keep it "G" people, this is a family website.

Happy Monday, Cupcakes!

I did it!

I blogged everyday this week! Saturday and Sunday do not count!

What are you doing this weekend?

Tonight, I'm going to the Casino Queen for a little fundraiser. All proceeds benefit Pancreatic Cancer.. I'm excited! This is going to be HUGE! I'm going to wear purple tights! YES! Purple is for pancan. Mary and fam will be there, Kim, Val and Gooch, Abby and Bryan, and me and my boo.

Then, tomorrow morning, me thinks Mom and I, and probably dad, are going to see "Just Go With It" and 10am, or whatever time it's showing before noon, so we can get in for 4 bucks each! BARGAIN. Then maybe I can talk mom into a mani/pedi.. whadda ya say, Ma? Then, I'm headed to southern Illinois for a Valentine's Day BASH. All I know is 1. I'm supposed to wear pink and 2. we're making lap blankets for those being treated for Breast Cancer.

Sunday, we will spend most of the day in New Haven and drive home Sunday late afternoon. If you're lucky, I'll take pictures and post them on Monday! WAHOO.

And, does anyone else think Blake Lively looks weird? Maybe it's her boobies?? No, that can't be it..

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!

Trip to D.C.?

The title of this post is the exact same title I used for my facebook message to my college roommates.

That's right, loyal readers! 88 Welch will be hopefully, probably, most likely be reunited in Washington, D.C. come June! Say it with me.. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Room C (our rooms weren't lettered.. we did that ourselves.. hi-five self!), otherwise known as "A-mac-a-lac-a-lac-a", or more simply put, "A".. is the nicest, most genuine, most supportive, most awesome of all! She's beautiful and strong.. She's an amazing athlete (played volleyball at MSU and led our intramural basketball team in points and steals and rebounds and assists and blocks and dunks, for reals.. A has serious hang time..) and quite frankly, a genius. Your all-around person, the kind of people Duke University accepts. She got married in June 2007, to her our her dream guy. We always got so excited when he would come to 88 for a visit, and A knew it. She probably made him walk around with his shirt off to torture us and giggled about it later. A currently resides in the D.C. area with her hubby and dog Quincy. She will be our hostess with the most-est when we come to paint the town blue and gold.

Room B, otherwise known as "Millard" is the happiest, silliest, wears her heart on her sleeve-iest.. ha.. Mil is 88's sweetheart.. she's smart, gorgeous, and sensitive. She's up for anything, and loves whatever it is or was. Also a wicked athlete, and a volleyball star at MSU.. pretty sure this long-legged beauty led the team in kills.. hahha kills.. that's like spikes or something. And let's not forget Millard's contributions to the intramural basketball team.. pretty sure she won the game for us against Quiet Storm. Yeah, I said it. Millard is an elementary school teacher in Illinois. And bleeds blue and orange.. seriously, it's gross.

And then Room A, that's me.

88 Welch, last time A was in STL.
We are proactively looking at flights and ready to rumble. Mil, bring the mac and cheese and THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS CD.

Happy Wednesday!

Hehehehehheheheee Wipe Ooooouut!!!!

Ok, Happy Guest Blog Thursday that I moved to Tuesday because this can't wait!!

Busta emailed me her WIPEOUT experience yesterday afternoon. Here we gooooooooooo.. (Anyone remember Animal from the Muppets?? He played the beginning drum part.. yeah, I knew you would!)

Sorry it took me so long to respond!

It did kind of take awhile..

This weekend was amazing!! It was 75 degrees and sunny so it was difficult keeping my clothes on. Just kidding...kind of.

Naturally..

The casting call was Saturday morning from 11 to 3, but they suggested an early arrival due to the number of potentials. I got there at 6am. When I say there, I am speaking of the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney. I was #14 in a line of about 1500 so I got in rather quick. They took us in groups of 10 so if you do the math, that would put me in group #2. :)

They made our group of 10 form a semi circle with one of the casting crew in front of us. They asked us to state our Name, Age, Hometown, Job, and what we would do with the 50k if we won. The few that went before me gave ok answers, but they were just not that creative when it came to the 50k. I had to think outside the box and quick. So, I answered....

Name: Sarah Buss
Age: 27
Hometown: Lincoln, NE
Job: Couch Model
50K: I would get a boob job.

Hehehhehehhahahahhahahohoohoohhahahhaha!!!!!

Immediately they loved me (Duh!!). The gentleman next to me looked at my bust and said "Whaaaaat?" and then high-fived me on the boob job. After the others gave their responses, the casting director asked us to step forward if our number was called. She called #14 (ME!) and another girl (Skank!). We stepped forward and she told the rest of the group "Thanks for coming out!". We had NO idea that was the first step to the casting call test!

Another crew member took us to another room where we filled out some paperwork. As we filled out the paperwork, there was a film crew from ABC filming a "Behind the Scenes: Getting On Wipeout" documentary or episode or something and was asking us all kinds of questions. This crew followed us everywhere.  Once we were done with this paperwork, another crew member coached us in answering the next set of questions explaining that there was a right and wrong way to answer.

I'm nervous!

I then met with another casting director in a green room. This room consisted of two cameras, the director and lights in my face. I was nervous to say the least. He asked me questions for about 5 minutes and I had to come up with witty responses on the spot. It was tough, but I think I did a pretty good job. A few of the questions....

Q: Do you have any special talents?
A: I can put both of my feet behind my head.
Q: Can you prove it?
A: Duh. (I sat on the ground and gave it a solid attempt, but just couldn't pull it off. My failure to do so made it even funnier and he had a good laugh at my expense.)
Q: What would your victory dance look like if you won the $50,000?
A: (I dropped to the ground, laid on my side and began running in circles.)

If you know Buss, you know the "Victory Dance".. it's actually more of her signature move.. Victory or no victory..

He told me that I did an amazing job and sent me out to fill out the final paperwork (All 30 pages worth). Once I completed this, the casting director told me that I rocked it and said she would let me know within 90 days. I felt really good about it. When I walked out of my 5 minute interview, there were people everywhere in the bar that had already been cut and they were high-fiving me and cheering on "Nebraska", which is what they kept calling me.

It was a great opportunity and I am so thankful to have had the chance. Call back or not, I am happy I did it!

Way to go, NEBRASKA! We are so proud of you!

As for you ABC, we'll talk to you in May.

Happy Tuesday!

The Day After The Super Bowl

Ok, did your team win? That's great. Did you watch Glee? I did. It was.. alright. I'm psyched for Tuesday's Valentine's Day episode, though!

So, did you guys know Busta had a casting call for Wipeout? I just dropped a bomb on her and said, "Surprise! Email me so I can guest blog you." She hasn't yet.. I don't know if it was a weekend thing, or what? But I'm sure she'll be fillin' us in REAL quick. She probably got to meet Usher or something, and then he would have most likely fallen in love with her and taken her to the Super Bowl in between Wipeout workouts. They're probably in Vegas gettin' hitched as we speak.

Anyway, did anyone watch the Waste Management Phoenix Open? Waste Management.. hahaha

I didn't watch either. I'll give you two guesses why.. that's right.. 1. No Tiger and 2. "Whoever those guys are" filled the Top 5 going into the Final Round.. BUT (I just looked it up), Mark Wilson was the big winner!! That's right, my direct blood relative. Just kidding, we just happen to have the same (pretty common) last name.

Anyway, I'm going to try to blog every day this week.

Happy Monday!

PS Try this.

Mom's own special Munchies.. otherwise known as Punchies.. P for Peg (Consider that Copywrited Copywritten)

Regular crunchy Cheetos
Pretzels (probably any form, we used Goldfish)
Cheddar Goldfish
Chili Cheese Frito's

Mix up and eat. Yum!
